As noted on the registration page, t-shirts are not part of the RTC Sprint race fees this year in an effort to keep costs down. This doesn't mean you can't get a race shirt, though- you can pre-order one or have one made on race day. Various styles and colors are available - please use the attached order form to purchase your race t-shirt. All proceeds go towards teaching underprivileged youth to swim in GRAP's Learn To Swim program...together we can drown proof Richmond!
The sport tech shirt is 100% polyester and the grey hoodie is 80% polyester. The rest of the shirts are a 50/50 cotton poly blend.
Note: not all colors/styles available for pre-order are guaranteed on race day.
Registration for the 2014 RTC Sprint is now open and once again, club members will get to race for an amazingly low price- just $30 if you sign up before the January price bump! We are excited to welcome aboard Bon Secours as our new presenting sponsor.
For the second year, this race will take place at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center /GRAP and feature an open water-style swim, complete with turn buoys. The bike and run courses are fast and flat, offering a great way to test your speed early in the race season. The top RTC finishers in each age group will be recognized on the Club trophy.
We are pleased to welcome back GroundForce IT as a race sponsor. Peluso Open Water is the swim course sponsor and Poole & Poole Architecture is sponsoring the run.
Training programs are available for this race (additional fees apply): Peluso Open Water and Endorphin Fitness will be partnering up once again to offer the GRAP Tri Training Team with coached workouts at the race site beginning February 3. The entire CVE/YMCA Program, now offered at every Richmond YMCA, will be training for the RTC Sprint as well.
This year's race is sure to sell out again so reserve your spot quickly. The club discount code will be published in the TRI NEWS.
Not planning to race? We are recruiting volunteers now! This event is run completely by volunteers so your help is greatly appreciated. More information in paragraph below.
The RTC Sprint can't happen without our amazing volunteers. Year after year we hear about how well run our races are and how friendly the volunteers are. Thank you! If you're not planning to race, now's the time to sign up to help us with April's race. Please recruit your friends and family to help, too! Registration link below. T-shirt and brunch provided for all volunteers.
Once again, Peluso Open Water has invited RTC members to swim for FREE with their coaches on alternating Fridays beginning April 11. And new this year: RTC will be providing adult beverages and snacks after the swims on the first Friday swim of the month! Relax and get to know other club members after a great workout.
Peluso Open Water specializes in open water swim training for triathletes, so this is your opportunity to be coached by local experts to prepare you for your next open water tri or swim race. You should be able to swim 100 yards without stopping to participate.
All swims take place at a private boat ramp in Tarrington near Robious Landing (directions, address in the link at the bottom). The swims start at 6 pm with a river condition briefing, safety precautions and details of the evening's workout. For safety reasons, once the swim has started, no one will be allowed to enter the water. Wetsuits are not required, but may be desirable depending on your tolerance to cold. Please bring a brightly colored swim cap and goggles.
Registration not required, but club memberships will be validated: just bring up your membership card on your phone or print it out and present it at check-in. Guests are welcome for a $15 drop in fee.
Sometimes Mother Nature can be unpredictable, but if we know the swim is going to be cancelled before we are at the boat ramp, we will post an announcement on the RTC and POW websites as well as both Facebook and Twitter pages. If you don't see an announcement, a decision has not been made so assume the swim is on. No need to call/text/email event organizers.
Free Swim Dates: alternating Friday's starting April 11 - no swim on July 4. Swim distance will increase as the season progresses. Directions, OWS calendar and river conditions can be found on the POW website, link below.
